Chrysler looks to Busche for Quality Training Mode.

November 25, 2009

Several representatives from Chrysler's Kokomo, Indiana facility were in Albion last week to work with their counterparts from Busche to benchmark Busche's World Class Manufacturing processes.

According to Jeffrey Ryles, Chrysler Production Quality Improvement Facilitator, with Chrysler's merger with Fiat last July, the company is transitioning to "lean" manufacturing. This calls for accountability, standardization, cost containment, eliminating waste of every kind and implementation of safety and environmental standards.

"This is a huge undertaking," said Ryles, "and will require a lot of employee training and employee accountability."

Chrysler has been impressed with the methods Busche uses to maintain a high level of employee accountability and exceptional product quality, and hopes to incorporate some of the same processes to its machine driven manufacturing.

Participating in the benchmarking session held at Busche's education facility on Weber Road in Albion were Stephanie Morris, Busche HR and Training Coordinator and Jim Stewart, Operation Manager. From Chrysler were Ryles, Misty Lawson, Chrysler's Quality Management; Emily Summers, Product Quality Improvement Trainer and Barry Linkogly, HR.
