LANDS "7" NEW JOBS THROUGH DIVERSIFICATION
OF REFRIGERATION COMPONENTS
March, 2009

Diversification - many organizations are using the word, but BUSCHE a CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) Precision Machining Organization located in Albion, IN has put diversity into action. In 2002, with over 93% of Busche's Production work in Automotive and Heavy Truck, Busche made a decisive decision to diversify its operations into other industries. In 2009 the pieces of the puzzle have changed dramatically with only 26% of the effort going into Auto and Heavy Truck. With a new line up of customers such as John Deere, Caterpillar, Harley Davidson, Frigidaire, and the railroad industry, Busche continues in its goals to remain less dependent on a single sector of the manufacturing industry.

Nick A. Busche, CEO/President of Busche announced today that seven new manufacturing jobs will be created with the machining of several different refrigeration air compressor housings from Copeland Corporation. Copeland Representatives were in this past week to review the new fixturing and processes for the new production cell in preparation of the launch of K-Bodies at Busche. Nick Busche noted, "This is immediate work which will be in full production by June 1st. " The $1.1 million dollar contract will require two horizontal machining centers, a honing machine along with an assembly operation. The housings will be used in reach-in-coolers, and in dental office applications. Dennis Snively, Estimator for Busche, commented, " The K Bodies require very tight tolerances of .00009 of an inch and will require diamond reaming which is a new machining technique for Busche and adds another dimension to Busche's multiple capabilities." "In addition", Tom Keller, Director of Quality, remarked, "Busche is now seeking to obtain AS 9100 Aerospace certification to add yet another dimension to the services we can offer." In February Busche announced nine new jobs manufacturing Rack and Pinion Steering Housings for ThyssenKrupp Presta - Mercedes M-Class.
