BUSCHE AWARDED NEW CONTRACT WITH DANA
CREATING 40 NEW JOBS September 18, 2009 PRESS RELEASE – Albion, IN Nick A. Busche, CEO/President of Busche along with Dana's Ken Rothenstine, Buyer Traction, Gary Davis, Manager, RAW Material Purchasing and Sierra Pena, Supply Chain Co-op all of Dana Holding Corporation out of Maumee, OH announced today that Dana has selected BUSCHE for the machining and assembling of steering knuckle assemblies for the Ford P-473 Program for all 250, 350, and 450 trucks. After six months of negotiating, BUSCHE was the competitive bidder. The contract calls for BUSCHE to provide Dana with a total of 12 different safety critical steering knuckle assemblies for as long as Dana maintains the project. The project will establish 40 new CNC machining jobs at BUSCHE requiring eleven CNC's and four presses. "With all the new business awarded to Busche this year, our 2010 looks very promising regardless of the current economy," said Nick A. Busche, CEO/President. Nick A. Busche noted that Dana and the BUSCHE organization have always had a good working relationship beginning in the late ninety's when Nick A. Busche first established BUSCHE. Currently, BUSCHE machines the 6K and 7K Yokes which are a part of the steering component tree. The 6K and 7K assembled knuckles will comprise the major part of the recent contract consisting of a combined estimated annual production need of 450,000 assemblies. The remaining eight knuckles are service requirements for FORD. The doors opened for this opportunity when Metaldyne, BUSCHE's largest domestic competitor in the arena of CNC Machining, filed bankruptcy and announced the closure of the North Carolina plant where the knuckles were being ran. LeAnn Gray, Launch Coordinator and Customer Relations Representative for Busche noted, "It is very difficult to be able to bid on existing large volume contracts once the programs have been established at a competitor due to the capital dollars required to launch such a project. With the new developments, we were able to provide a competitive bid with a superior launch time of eight weeks." BUSCHE has a team of dedicated individuals that are noted for their abilities in bringing new programs to production in incredibly short lead times. With the need for 20 hydraulic work holding fixtures, the eight week lead time would have been impossible using standard tool shops. BUSCHE'S WORKHOLDING plant provides shorter lead times anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks. This is a huge advantage and also allows better continuity between BUSCHE's machines and the hydraulic work holding fixtures. With PPAP scheduled for the second week in October, BUSHCE will be prepared for full production by November 1st. BUSCHE has worked diligently in 2009 to bring in new work from all facets of the industrial sector. A quick look at their website www.busche-cnc.com under What's New reveals five different news releases that are posted announcing new work and employment opportunities coming to the Albion, Indiana based BUSCHE in 2009.
