LANDS CONTRACT WITH DANFOSS COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS Machining Rings and Crank Cases for Residential Air Conditioning Units Creating Seven New Jobs August 27, 2009 When you arrive in Albion, Indiana many folks see only fields of corn and streets lined with the American flags, but if you take a closer look, you will see a strong thriving manufacturing element that is surviving these difficult economic times. BUSCHE is known as one of the industry's leaders in machining. "These are tough times and we aren't saying we haven't felt the pain of the slowing of the economy," Nick A. Busche, CEO/President of Busche noted. "however, we know there are great opportunities out there and we are doing our best to get the word out that BUSCHE has a team of dedicated, knowledgeable individuals that have the work ethic and desire to respond to customer needs with a sense of urgency and provide quality products with zero defects." Danfoss Commercial Products is one such company that heard of Busche from its strong reputation in providing superior, critical machining to the foundry industry. After making a call to Busche, the Manufacturing Advance Group (An elite team encompassing all manufacturing elements), made the trip to Danfoss in Arkansas to formally introduce BUSCHE and give the purchasing side of Danfoss an impression that led to a two day Quality Audit by Danfoss Supplier Quality Manager, Susan Houston, and Harry Hongwel, Purchasing Specialist at the Busche facilities in July. Within three months from that first contact, Busche had won a three year contract from Danfoss to produce a combined total of 326,000 pieces per year of rings and crankcases for residential air conditioning units. Dennis Snively, Estimator for Busche, commented, "The quantity is based on current volumes and as the economy turns, along with new constructions starts, Busche looks forward to seeing volumes grow significantly." Danfoss operates globally as a leading supplier of compressors and automated solutions to the refrigeration and air conditioning industry. The Danfoss product range is among the most complete in the world. It is used within a number of business areas, such as household-, commercial-, food retail and industrial refrigeration as well as air conditioning, products for the wholesale refrigeration market and automation in various specific industrial sectors. The new work will take six dedicated CNC lathes running around the clock creating seven new manufacturing positions at Busche. With PPAP due in November and full production scheduled by December the Busche sales, engineering, quality and manufacturing teams are all focused in seeing that every detail such as scheduling, gauging, tooling, and processes are being fine tuned for a successful launch in November. James Stewart, Operations Manager, is enthusiastic about expanding the commercial element helping to round out the Automotive, Industrial, Agricultural, and Diesel Engine facets of Busche's business. Jim advised, "It's critical that manufacturers have a full range of dynamics to pull from. Many of our competitors were hit hard when the automotive industry practically came to a standstill late last winter. Busche is able to weather the economic storm by relying on the other manufacturing elements which we support. We are thankful for the confidence Danfoss has shown Busche in the awarding of the new contract and the job security this work will provide for the employees of Busche and our local community."
