PRESS RELEASE
MERCEDES-BENZ COMPONENT MANUFACTURED AT BUSCHE CREATING "9" NEW JOBS. February, 2009 As many companies are finding the financial woes to difficult to bear, BUSCHE a CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) Production Machining facility is finding this an opportune time to assist their customers. Many manufacturers are scrambling to find financially stable organizations to place manufacturing work as faltering firms are unable to honor contractual agreements. Busche's unique distinction of performing under the gun and launching work quickly, brought ThyssenKrupp Presta to Busche with a Mercedes Benz M-Class Rack and Pinion Steering Housing used in mid-size SUV's with light off-road capability. Busche's Engineering, Quality, Production and the Maintenance Teams along with the Workholding Division had production up and running within one week of receiving ThyssenKrupp's fixturing and tooling from a troubled supplier. Nick A. Busche commented, "Without the dedication of a committed, knowledgeable and seasoned team, Busche would not be able to handle immediate need opportunities. Due to our strong financial standing, we see takeover work as a major area of growth for 2009." Tom Keller, Director of Quality, explained that, The M-Class rack is not just another machined part. This safety critical component has a very complex geometry with high precision tolerances. One of the reasons why this component is so tough to machine and measure is due to the long projected axis with extremely tight positional tolerances. Special measurement machines called CMM's are dedicated to measuring this machined component to insure parts meet specification and long term capability. The tolerances are so tight that temperature has a great effect on size and position. To compensate for this temperature variation the CMM's are fitted with temperature compensations probes which will adjust the output based on the temperature of the part. Keller also noted, "Launching this project at such an accelerated rate shows that Busche not only has high tech equipment and capabilities but also has a very strong and knowledgeable team that can work together for a common goal and be successful!" The three year contract calls for 150,000 pieces per year from three horizontal machining centers creating nine new jobs for the Albion based company. Alejandro Delgadillo, ThyssenKrupp Presta's Supplier Quality Engineer, has closely watched the launch of the Rack and Pinions he noted that, "Busche is a company with high customer satisfaction, not only on the high quality of their machining service, but also understanding the customer requirements. Busche is a supplier that provides improvements with ideas based on the excellence of it's people." BUSCHE specializes in medium to high volume production runs of the durable goods industry. With an absolute commitment to high quality standards, the company has earned "safety critical" approved supplier status; maintains a Silver rating in Caterpillar's Supplier Quality Excellence Program; and is TS-16949 and ISO-4001 certified. Busche has a solid reputation for exceptional customer service, using the latest manufacturing technologies, and producing superior parts with a zero defect objective. Operations are conducted in six production climate-controlled, facilities with over 320,000 square feet under roof using work cells that have reduced lead times, improved quality and productivity while maintaining excellent on-time delivery records.
